Zella Reba Thurman

Funeral Services for Zella Reba Thurman, age 93 of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Cemetery. Mrs. Thurman died Monday November 8, 2010 at her home in Cookeville. She was born January 2, 1917 in Putnam County Tennessee to the late Ransom Edward Geer and Nora Lou Clouse Geer. Mrs. Thurman was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Double Springs Church of Christ. She will be remembered by her smile and her love for her family. Mrs. Zella is survived by two sons, James Thurman and his wife Barbara and Thomas Thurman and his wife Iris and one daughter, Norma Jean Fields and husband Ronnie, all of Cookeville. She was grandmother to nine grandchildren; Daren (Rena) Thurman of Rickman, Bryan Thurman of Cookeville, Crystal (Bobby) Hicks of Lebanon, Katrina Thurman of Cookeville, Michael Thurman of Cookeville, April (James) Whitaker of Rickman, and Stephen Andrew Fields (Melissa) ,Bobbie Jean Woodard (Edward) of Cookeville and Thomas E. Nichols (Myalia) of Anacordis Washington. She was also great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wade D. Thurman; one brother, Paschal Geer, and one sister, Lela Geer. Brothers Ronald Strong will officiate the service.
