Winnie Clinton

Mrs. Winnie Odell Dennis Clinton, age 89, of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday morning April 9, 2019 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living, where she resided for the past twelve years. Mrs. Clinton was born September 28, 1929 in Overton County, TN to the late Odus and Delavine Beaty Dennis. Mrs. Clinton was an active member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. She formerly worked in sales at Grady's Dry Goods and later at McMurry-Roberson in Cookeville. Her family includes two sons, James (Bonnie) Clinton of Cookeville and Mike Clinton of Baxter; two daughters, Carol (Nolan) Goolsby and Karen (Jerry) Newport, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Brandon Clinton, Andrew (Rachael) Franklin, Amy (Brett) Shields, Megan (Rick) Monroe, Todd (Stayce) Clinton, Brooke (Kyle) Bradley, Michael (Amy) Newport and Chris Newport; two sisters-in-law, Gertie (Clarence) Madewell and Lorie Pippin; and great-grandchildren, Camilla and Bryce Clinton, Charlie Jane Franklin, L.K. and Cass Bradley, Jake James, Tyler Shields, Charlie and William Monroe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clinton; two sisters, Lois Dennis and Genova Sparks; three brothers, J. B., Dexter, and Denver Dennis. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and daughter-in-law, Mattie Jo Nunally Clinton. Graveside services and interment will be at 12 noon Thursday, April 11 at Crest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Bill Stone officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cookeville First Baptist Church, 18 S. Walnut, Cookeville, TN 38501.
