Wilma Wright Diemer

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Wright Diemer, age 92, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Cookeville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christian Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Saturday at 11:00 am until service time at the church. Due to COVID health concerns, masks and social distancing are encouraged. Mrs. Diemer died Monday, August 30, 2021 at her residence. She was born July 8, 1929 in Cookeville, TN to the late Ira Hugh and Maggie Williams Williamson. Wilma graduated from Central High School in Cookeville and married Johnie J. Wright, Jr. in 1948. After many years in the military, Major Johnie J. Wright, Jr. died in Vietnam in 1967. Wilma was a Gold Star Widow. She became a LPN after Johnie’s death and worked for about 25 years in that occupation. In 1985 Wilma married Dennis Diemer, who passed July 19, 1993. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters Dahlia Sparkman and June Pitman, and Great Grandson, Ethan McDuffie. Wilma is survived by her four children: Johnie III (Nancy) Wright of Woodstock, GA; Margaret (David) Barlow of Christiana, TN; David Wright of Cookeville, TN; and Allen (Kim) Wright of Cookeville, TN. Grandchildren: John (Jenny) Wright of Chandler AZ; Scott (Sarah) Wright of Lake Dallas, TX; Aimee Ragland of Murfreesboro, TN; Megan Barlow of Christiana, TN; David (Alison) Steinweg of Savannah, GA; Chelsea (Bradley) Mercer of Greenville, TN; and 12 Great Grandchildren. Wilma’s children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the Cookeville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 565 E 10th Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.
