Willie Elrod Ashburn

BAXTER-Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Elrod Ashburn, 77, of Baxter, will be Tuesday, January 10 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Mrs. Ashburn passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. She was born June 28, 1939 in Putnam County to the late Albert "AB" Riley and Willie Gladys Hayes Elrod. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Columbus D. Ashburn on October 27, 1988 and several brothers and sisters. She attended Rock Castle Church and was an ordained minister. She loved to crochet, cook, sing and make chocolate pies. She loved being with family and friends. Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law Renee and Rick Qualls, Peggy Ashburn all of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law Albert and Sandra Ashburn of Sparta, sister Delma Boyd of Baxter, brothers Donal Elrod of Gainesboro, Leon Elrod and Lloyd Elrod both of Baxter, grandchildren: Steven Ashburn, Scotty Ashburn, Lauren Fowler, Michael Mahan, Justin Ashburn, Lucretia Qualls, Leslie Gurley, Kent Ashburn and Eden Ashburn, great-grandchildren: Alexis Ashburn, Zander Ashburn, Madison Mahan, Reagan Fowler, Aspen Carter, Blaze Gurley, Blake Ashburn, Nea Ashburn and Avaree Ashburn. Bro. Clayton Lee, Jr. will officiate. Active Pallbearers will be Steven, Justin, Kent and Scotty Ashburn, Ryan Schott and Randy Elrod.
