William Shields

William "Bill" Royce Shields, 75 of Baxter, died Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at a later date.

He was born November 22, 1947 in Wartburg, TN to the late James Reid and Edna VanNorstran Shields.

He was a Navy veteran.

Bill retired as a machinist with City of San Francisco, California with over 25 years of service.  He had a passion for old cars, loved attending car shows and cruising the streets of San Francisco with his buddies in his 63 Chevy SS Impala or the 41 Ford.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Montalbano Shields; a daughter; Michelle Davis; and two half brothers, Frank Scott and Earl Scott.

Survivors include daughter, Charlotte (Billy) Sloan of Baxter; brother, James Russell Shields of Wartburg; grandchildren: Samantha Brinas and Jason Archung, Dominic (Bryanna ) Brinas, Jeremy Davis and Blanca Cruz; great grandchildren, Mia Davis Cruz and Olivia Archung.
