William Atkinson “Bill” Rodgers was the fifth boy born to Grover and Ada Atkinson Rodgers on
November 21, 1932, in Panama City, Florida. Raised on Massalina Bayou Bill would often tell colorful
stories that would transport you back to Panama City before it became such a tourist destination. Being
the youngest of five brothers, Bill always had a heart for adventure; whether it was parachuting in his
time with the 82nd Airborne, racing sailboats across the Gulf of Mexico, or piloting 200-foot supply boats
in the Mediterranean, Bill lived life to its fullest.
After an extended illness, Bill passed away on March 5, 2024, at home in Cookeville with the love of his
life, Jamesie Rodgers, to whom he was married for almost 43 years.
In addition to his wife, Jamesie, he leaves behind a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Drs. Stuart (Doc)
and Susan Wells of Cookeville, a niece Whitney Wells of Cookeville, a nephew David Rodgers of Palm
Bay, Florida, and a great nephew Jason Rodgers of Miami, Florida.
At Bill’s request no services will be held.
