William Ashton Grimsley

Mr. William Ashton Grimsley, age 89 of Cookeville died Tuesday February 19, 2019 in NHC of Cookeville. William Ashton was born Sunday January 5, 1930 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Bryan and Maggie Adcock Grimsley. He was a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church and was a retired associate with the former Acme Boot Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlena Grimsley and Ila Burns; and a great niece Robyn Elaine Burns. Survivors include his niece, Phyllis Byrd of Toccoa, GA; nephew, Lawrence F. (Donna) Burns III of Chattanooga; great nephew, Trevor Lawrence Burns; great niece, Rachel (Michael) Howard; and two great great nephews, Ezra and William Michael Howard. William Ashton’s funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Randolph officiating. Interment will follow in Smith’s Chapel Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at Dyer Funeral Home.
