Willene Maxwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Willene Modena Howell Maxwell, age 90, will be held Wednesday, February 1st at 1pm in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Gary Norton will officiate.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 12pm until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maxwell died Monday January 30, 2023 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County.

She was born Wednesday April 20, 1932 in Putnam County, TN to the late Dillard Howell and Ina Jane Stults Howell.

She was a 1950 graduate of Baxter Seminary. She was an associate of the former Acme Boot Company and worked at Park View Elementary School as a teacher's assistant for 12 years.

She has been a member of Lilly's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church since age 14 and faithfully served as secretary of the church for 62 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lillard Lewis Maxwell; and by a sisters, Lorene Howell, Dimple Elrod and Joyce Bean; and by a brother, Winnell Howell.

She is survived by brothers in law, Bobby Bean, of Cookeville and Hooper Maxwell, of Crossville; nieces and nephews, Samantha Howell (Richard) McCowan, Mario (Lisa) Bean, ; P.G. Maxwell, all of Cookeville, Tim Maxwell, Scott Maxwell, both of Florida and Austin Maxwell, of Nashville, Linda Bush, of Atlanta and Ronald and Theresa Burgess, of Cookeville. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina,New York, Colorado and California.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
