Willard Iron Nash

Funeral services for Willard Iron Nash 91, of Baxter, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Nash Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home. Mr. Nash was called to his heavenly home on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Dekalb County Hospital. He was born April 27, 1917, to the late Levi Perkins “LP” Nash and Bessie Maude Garrison Nash in Putnam County. Mr. Nash was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville where he served as a deacon for near 70 yrs. and taught Sunday School for many years. He was recently bestowed the honor of Deacon Emeritus at the church. He also served as a Commissioner for Putnam County for 24 years and was secretary of the Election Commission for 32 yrs. Mr. Nash worked hard as a dairyman, farmer, and owned a Saw Mill for 72 yrs. Mr. Nash is survived by his children: Freda (Harry) Todd of Tampa FL, Leva Nell (Dewey) Greenwood of Baxter and Lakeland FL, Lucy (Mike) Evans of Atlanta GA, Albert (Rowena) Nash of Baxter, Lloyd (Linda) Nash of Cookeville and Willard Nash Jr. of Baxter. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and 1 sister: Elma Allison (Hubert) of Baxter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Nash: 1 son, Floyd: a grandson, Mike Flatt: a great grandson, Lincoln Flatt and son in law, Lester Flatt. Mr. Nash was also preceded in death by 2 infant brothers, 3 sisters: Jane Murray, Erma Warren, and Ethel Warren; and 2 brothers: Carl Nash and Salem Nash. Bro. Randall Adkisson and Bro. John Davis will be conducting the services.
