Wanda Sue Elrod

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Wanda Sue Elrod, age 71 of Cookeville will be held Sunday July 2 at 4 p.m. at Saint John's Cemetery in the Lilly Dale Community of Clay County. Stephen Haney will officiate. Wanda's family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. She died Thursday morning June 29, 2017 in Signature Health Care Center in Algood. Wanda was born January 14, 1946 in Clay County, Tennessee to the late Delmar Allen and Mary Ruth Ledbetter Capps. Wanda was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was a people person who never met a stranger; always making new friends; and always making everyone smile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie "Jack" Clyde Elrod, SR; brother, Billy Capps, sister and brother-in-law, Gwinda and William A. Jaehn; and brother-in-law, Stanley Haney. Survivors include two sons Scott and wife, Libby Capps, and Jackie "Sid" Elrod JR and girlfriend, Amy Hicks; grandchildren, Jordan Capps and Austin Elrod; two sisters, Rose Haney of Monterey, and Linda (Ralph) Lauro of Branford, CT; and sister-in-law, Sue Capps of Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.
