Vola Mcbroom

Funeral services for Mrs. Vola Arie McBroom, 82 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 am Friday, September 5 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Wilmoth and Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 8 pm and again Friday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. McBroom died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born November 28, 1931 in Cookeville, TN to the late Willis V. and Martha Jane Dyer Goodwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ola Loftis and brother, Linne Goodwin. Mrs. McBroom was a member of Northeast Church of Christ and formerly attended Sycamore Church of Christ. She was retired from the Cookeville Shirt Factory. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Elton McBroom (whom she married July 5, 1958 in Smithville, TN); daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Dianne and Bill Pearson of Cookeville; brother, Willis Verble Goodwin of Cookeville; nieces and nephews, Ray Goodwin, Garry Loftis, Darlene Hatcher and Steve Hatcher, Betty and Paul Braswell, Nell and Jim Smelcer; and several great nieces and nephews. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family extends their thanks to the staff at NHC of Cookeville for the loving care they gave Mrs. McBroom during her time there.
