Virginia Ann Eldridge, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023, at Bailey Manor in Cookeville, TN. Born on August 18, 1944, in Algood, TN, Virginia was a beacon of selfless love and faith throughout her 79 years of life.
Virginia was the Salutatorian of Algood High School, a testament to her intelligence and dedication. Her commitment to education and service led her to a fulfilling career with the State of Tennessee Vocational Rehabilitation, where she retired after 39 years of dedicated service.
Virginia was a faithful member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church for over 35 years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guidance. Her devotion was evident in her active participation and the love she had for her church family.
She was the epitome of a loving wife and mother, always putting her family's needs above her own. Virginia is survived by her husband, Larry Eldridge; sons, Steve Pierce (Cindy) and Jason Eldridge (Kelly); sister, Janice Brewington; sister-in-law, Joyce Eldridge; grandchildren, Blake Pierce (Samantha), Abbie Pogue (Cannon), Skylar Hicks, and Cady Key (Blake); niece, Kristie Kirby (Joe); great-grandchildren, Peyton, Cadon, Landon, Jackson, Piper, and Pete; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Edward Gibbons and Virginia Meekle Moore Gibbons; son, Barry Eldridge; great-grandson, Colton Key; and brother-in-laws, Gary Brewington and Arnold Eldridge.
The funeral service honoring Virginia will be held at 3 pm on Monday, November 20, at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Gaw will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 pm until time of the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Algood City Cemetery.
