Memorial services for Virginia J. Byrd, 88, of Algood will be held Saturday, November 24 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be in Dodson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Miss Byrd was born August 6, 1924 in Pickett County, TN to the late Fred Darnell and Ova Elizabeth Clark Byrd. She was of the Baptist faith. Miss Byrd retired as a LPN at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in 1999 with over 35 years of service. She was a great person, a very patriotic American who supported the military and veterans and she was a Republican. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tyson, Victor and Charles Byrd and a sister, Susie Hensley. Miss Byrd is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Rose Frances Byrd of Herbst, IN, Fred and Joanna Byrd, Jr. of Bowling Green, KY and Danny and Lyllis Byrd of Byrdstown, TN; one sister, Mary Ruth Byrd of Cookeville and numerous nieces and nephews.
