COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Virgie Cunningham Dietz, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence in Cookeville on April 3, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 24, 1932, in Sparta, Tennessee, she lived a life rich in experiences, dedication, and love.
Virgie was a dedicated worker whose career spanned various roles throughout her lifetime, with her most recent position being a sales associate at JC Penney. Her work ethic and commitment to every job she undertook were hallmarks of her character.
A high school graduate, Virgie was not only driven in her professional life but also cherished her personal interests. She found joy in gardening and canning vegetables, spending many happy hours nurturing her plants and preparing for family meals. Her home was always a testament to her loving spirit, kept tidy and welcoming. Additionally, she loved traveling, creating lasting memories along her journeys.
A devoted member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church, Virgie enriched the lives of those around her with her warm personality and strong faith.
She is survived by her sister and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lan and Naomi Phillips Cunningham; her husband, Joe Curtis Dietz; and three sisters and two brothers.
Virgie's legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Sunday evening, April 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Mrs. Dietz will be laid to rest privately, beside her husband at Cunningham Family Cemetery in White County.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Cunningham Family Cemetery Fund at 5250 Bunker Hill Rd., Cookeville, TN 38506 by care of Kim Julian.
