Violet Loftis

Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Irene Hix Loftis, age 96 of Cookeville will be held Thursday March 3rd at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Bybee officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan-Pippin Cemetery. Mrs. Loftis family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Loftis died Monday afternoon February 29, 2016 at Upper Cumberland Hospice and Palliative Care in Cookeville. She was born April 9, 1919 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Winton and Zula Odum Hix. She was a homemaker and a member of Pippin Church of Christ for over 30 years. She was formerly a member of the Holiday and Liberty Church of Christ Congregations. FAITH-FAMILY & FRIENDS were the cornerstone of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Loftis; and two brothers, Alvine Hix and Ray Hix. Survivors include her daughter, Louise (Mike) Gaw of Cookeville; six sons, Bobby Loftis of Fort Wayne, IN, Jim Loftis of Hollywood, FL, Don Loftis, Billy (Denise) Loftis all of Cookeville, Rick Loftis of Phoenix, AR, and Mike (Darlene) Loftis of Cookeville; Nine grandchildren, Anna Robertson, Eric Loftis, Julie Green, Chris Loftis, Cindy Smith, Leisa Stanberry, Lynda Loftis, Matt Lynn, and Michael Gary Loftis II; and ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Shelby and Mattie Lou Hunter both of Nashville. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
