Verble Goodwin

Funeral services for Willis Verble Goodwin, age 88, of Jackson County, TN will be at 3 p.m. Saturday November 11 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Leo Bilbrey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 -7 p.m. and again Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Goodwin passed away Thursday, November 8, 2017 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, TN. He was born September 14, 1929 in Cookeville to the late Willis and Martha Dyer Goodwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Chaffin Goodwin; daughter, Gail Beasley; two sisters, Ola Loftis and Vola McBroom; and brother, Lennie Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin was a Korean War veteran having served in the US Army. He was retired from Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI. He is survived by his granddaughter, Debbie (Keith) Young; son-in-law, Monroe Beasley all of Jackson County; two great-grandchildren, Kori and Emily Moss; and several extended family members. Pallbearers will be Johnny Chaffin, John Adkins, Bryan Halfacre, Leonard Goodwin, Garrett Goodwin, and Blake Maberry.
