Funeral services for Vera Lee Hunter, 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 3 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Friday from 5 -8pm and again Saturday from 10am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hunter died suddenly Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014 at her home. She was born January 6, 1946 in Harriman, TN to the late George Dickey and Marjorie Fink Dickey McClain. Mrs. Hunter attended Engrafted Word Church and The River Community Church. She was a former employee of Aquatech in Cookeville and later worked as a nursing assistant prior to retirement. Her family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, John and April Phillips, Michael and Faye Hunter, all of Cookeville, Tommy and Amy Hunter of Flaherty, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie Sue and Eddie Maddle of Sparta, Renee and Michael Hawkins of Cookeville; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jim Hunter; daughter, Rachel Amanda Hunter; and granddaughter, April Simmons. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Pastors Chris McMichael and Steve Tiebout will officiate at the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Rising Above Ministries, PO Box 222, Cookeville, TN 38503.
