Vera Anderson

Vera Anderson departed this world June 29, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born October 26, 1934, she lived a long and fruitful life and was very well loved. She will be greatly mourned by all who knew her and experienced her generous spirit. Vera was born in Arkansas and sustained a lifetime connection with her extended family there. Most of her life was spent on or near the family farm in Gainesboro, TN. Vera worked for many years as a medical coder for Upper Cumberland Anesthesia Associates in Cookeville, TN. Vera lived large and made the most of her time on earth. Vera loved kids, dogs, sudoku, and the slots; and they fiercely loved her back. Vera traveled and maintained warm ties with family and friends. Vera spent her final years with her son, Mark, in his Panama City, Florida home. Vera was predeceased by her parents (Fred and Maude Kirkpatrick), and her brother and sister (Fred Jr. and Katherine). Vera is survived by a daughter (Vicki Daggett), two sons (Mark Anderson and Thomas Anderson), and a beloved grandson (Ryon Daggett). She also leaves two step-grandchildren (Jaimee Hayes and Kevin Elmore). In addition, there were countless others she “adopted” along the way who accepted her as an aunt, second mother, or additional grandmother. Vera’s many acts of kindness were often handled quietly, and few knew the measure of sacrifice she exhibited to help those she loved. She was a loving presence in every community she inhabited. Heaven will gain by welcoming her.

Vera's family invites extended family and friends to a memorial gathering on Saturday July 20th from 3 - 4 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner.
