Funeral Services for Uel Cecil Vinson, age 95, of Cookeville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial following in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, January 14, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home and Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. Vinson died Saturday January 8, 2011 at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. He was born October 27, 1915 in Jackson County TN to the late James 'Jimmy' Vinson and Almeda Carter Vinson of the Nameless Community. Cecil married Ruby Lambert on Christmas day of 1935 and she preceded him in death in August of 2001. She was the daughter of Henry Lambert and Elizabeth Jernigan. They had three children, Elizabeth Diane Vinson, who died at birth; Mildred Vinson Williams Lemon who passed away in January of 2003, and Audrey Sue Vinson Longman of Wayne Michigan. Mr. Vinson was a Parts Inspector for General Motors, in Michigan for several years and retired from there. He was a member of the Cookeville Free Will Baptist Church. Cecil and Ruby raised three grandchildren, Debora Williams Dembski and Vickie Williams Johnson both of Alabama, and Michael Williams of Cookeville. He is also survived by grandchildren Danny Williams, Highland, Michigan; Sheila Longman-Kimble, Anchorage, Alaska; and Phillip Longman, Manchester, TN. Cecil is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Cecil was the third youngest of 14 chilidren; who have all preceded him in death: Henry, Fannie, Arlis, Arnold, Sarah Vinson Davidson, Norman, Vestel, Bethel, Wilbert, Boyd, Jewel Vinson Burgess, Jessie Vinson Roberts and Virgil Vinson. Pallbearers will be members of the family. Bro. A.J. Looper and Bro. Gene Burgess will be conducting Services.
