Funeral services for Tommy Ray Maxwell, age 95 of Cookeville, will be 3 p.m. Sunday August 15 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dennis Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Tom passed away Thursday morning August 12, 2021 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born March 12, 1926 in Baxter, TN to the late Alfred Whitney Maxwell and America Avo Worley Maxwell. Tom was a farmer. He was a member of Colonial Hills Church of God and was well liked by everyone in the community. Tom and his late wife, Minnie Pearl Maxwell; and late sister-in-law, Ella Mae Kirkpatrick sang in the gospel group, Maxwell Family Trio. He is survived by his brother, Hooper and wife Ruby Maxwell of Crossville; sister-in-law, Willene Maxwell of Cookeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Pearl Kirkpatrick Maxwell; five brothers, Ernest Vernon Maxwell, James Thomas Maxwell, Lloyd Etheridge Maxwell, Lillard Lewis Maxwell, and Claiborne Whitney Maxwell; and seven sisters, Lois Githare Knapp, Nola Odell Grider, Maude Joan Purvis, Myrtle Fliss Young, Mable Ann Buskirk, Effie Lou Ray, and Ella Mae Burgess. Pallbearers will be Greg Maxwell, Scott Maxwell, Tim Maxwell, Austin Maxwell, Hooper Maxwell, and Joey Wegmann. Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
