Funeral services for John Thomas "Tom" Lyles, age 70 will be held Wednesday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m.in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Heady and Bro. Mickey Leftwich officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Lyles died Saturday March 26, 2016 at his home. He was born November 17, 1945 in Baxter, TN to the late to Jessie Allen and Maggie Michel Fields Lyles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lyles and son-in-law, Randy Wilder. Tom was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Navy. He retired from Church Building Systems based in Nashville, TN in 1989 prior to his co-ownership of Reliable Building Services in Cookeville (retired 2013). He also served as Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesboro, TN for the past twenty-two years. He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Wilder; son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Kim Lyles, all of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Alexis Lyles of Cookeville, Bethany Rodgers (husband Nick) of Dayton, OH, Peyton Keen (husband Tyler) of Cookeville, Reagan Bernstein (husband Chris) of Louisville, KY; three great-grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Rodgers and Eli Keen. Larry Williams, Mark Dosch, Wes Thompson, JR Ray, Tony Short, and Jim Pappas will serve as pallbearers.
