BAXTER-Funeral services for Tommy "TOM" Dale Bruce, 74, of Baxter will be Sunday, April 3 at 3 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Bruce died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Southern Care Assisted Living in Franklin, TN. He was born August 30, 1941 in Putnam County to the late James Baker Bruce, Jr. and Linnie Jewell Maynard Bruce. He was a 1959 graduate of Baxter Seminary. He also graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bethany Methodist Church. He was an avid University of Tennessee football fan, having been a season ticket-holder for over thirty years. He had a peach orchard on his farm, that he shared with family and friends. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law Colleen and Tommy Campbell of Franklin, nieces and nephews: Angie and husband Lanny Knight and Steve and Katherine Jo Nash all of Cookeville, great-nieces and nephews: SaraBeth Shelton, Ben Shelton, Brett Nash and Natalie Jo Nash, special cousin: Carol Bruce Harrel. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Southern Care in Franklin for their care, love and kindness. Active Pallbearers will be Steve Nash, Brett Nash, Ray Bruce, Bobby Bruce, Calbert Bruce and Nelson Bruce. Rev. Sheila Lancaster and Bob Winchester will officiate.
