Funeral services for Mr. Thomas "Tom" Leroy Little, age 90 of Cookeville, will be held Friday January 30 at 11 a.m. at Cookeville First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Bohannon Cemetery in the Calfkiller Community of Putnam County. Rev. Mike Head will officiate. Mr. Little's family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Little died Wednesday afternoon January 28, 2015 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Tom was born May 18, 1924 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania to the late Lawrence Sr. and Jennie Gamber Little. Tom was an active member at Cookeville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on the personnel committee. He also served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Roseville, Michigan prior to his move to Tennessee. Tom worked as a coal miner in Pennsylvania before he moved to Dearborn, Michigan and got a job at Briggs Manufacturing as an inspector for army tanks. It was at Briggs that Tom met his best friend and soul mate, Lucile Notie Little. The two married a short time later. Their love was like a fairytale and lasted 71 amazing years. In 1997, Tom helped start Chapter 127 of Mended Hearts in Cookeville. He became the president of the organization and helped it grow from 29 members to nearly 200 members in just five years. Tom received several awards while he served as president of the organization. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lawrence Junior Little and a sister, Dorla Bracken. Survivors include his wife, Lucile (whom he married November 25, 1943) in the Calfkiller Community; two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Hope Little of Cookeville, Dennis Little of Nashville; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Larry Worden of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandchildren, Jackie Ratterman and husband Todd, Becky Tucker, Lance Little and wife April, Caryn Little, Eric Worden, Christopher Worden and wife Julie, Michelle McClanahan and husband David; and twelve great grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and Mended Hearts Chapter 127 members. Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Officer, George Johnson, Charles David Little, Eric Worden, Christopher Worden, Lance Little and Claude McHenry.
