Thomas Lester Sliger

Funeral Services for Thomas Lester Sliger, age 89 of Cookeville, will be Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Stewart Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service in the Chapel of the funeral home. Mr. Sliger passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born February 10, 1922 in Putnam County TN to the late Thomas Clyde Sliger and Rosa Stamps Sliger. Tommy was a veteran of World War II. He worked as a mechanic for many years, and was a member of the Cane Creek Baptist Church. Tommy is survived by two daughters; Karen Sliger and Edith Duvier (husband Hank) both of Cookeville. In addition he is survived by two grandsons, John and Travis Duvier; two sisters, Louise Bockman of CA and Julia Alexander of Nashville, and two brothers; Cecil (wife Jewel) of CA and Jerry (wife Bobbie) of Cookeville. Mr. Sliger was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Osborne Sliger; two sisters, Hazel Brewington and Mary Ila Murphy; two brothers, Odell Sliger and Vestal Sliger; and two infant siblings. Brother Jackie Wheeler will officiate the service.
