Thomas Ernst

Thomas Frederick Ernst II, "Thom", passed away on November 23rd, 2020, shortly after his 50th birthday at The Laurels in Huber Heights, Ohio, after a brave battle with renal failure. Thom is survived by his mother, Doris Phillips Ernst of Cookeville, TN, his father, Thomas Frederick Ernst, Sr. and wife Barbara, of Ava, MO; sister Carolyn Dean of Springfield, MO; uncle Donald M. Ernst of Apollo Beach, FL; aunt Becky Volz (Dave) Wieland and their daughter Veronica Elizabeth Volz of Cookeville, TN; and many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Austin and Ida Meadows Phillips of Dayton, OH; and his paternal grandparents, Frederick Maxwell and Marion Ernst of Clarksville, TN. Thom was born on October 29, 1970 in Dayton, Ohio at Miami Valley Hospital. He graduated from Wayne High School and attended Sinclair Community College. Thom had a wonderful sense of humor (his laughter made you smile), loved riding his Harley, had a passion for helping pets and was known for his clever artistic talent. Thom's dream was to live in Tennessee once again and his final resting place will be in the Phillips Family Cemetery in Cookeville, Tennessee. A future celebration of life will be planned for Dayton, OH and another in Cookeville, TN. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to ASPCA or The Elephant Sanctuary located in Hohenwald, Tennessee. The family would also like to thank all the caregivers who lovingly comforted Thom.
