Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Fern Rose, 85, of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday December 9 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Dodson Branch Cemetery. Lee Bailey will officiate. Mrs. Rose died Sunday evening December 7, 2014 in NHC of Sparta. She was born March 31, 1929 in Ventura California to the late Gale and Decie Allen Smith. She was a retired associate at Russell Stover's Candies and a member of Sparta First Baptist Church. A faithful, loving wife, she supported her husband in their ministry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Quintin Rose; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Roy Smith; sister, Dimple Mayberry; and sister, Opal Purvis. Survivors include her two daughters, Carol Rose of Cookeville and Brenda Vinson of Sparta; son-in-law, Ron Simcox of Algood; two brothers, Howard Smith of Ohio and Bob Smith of Cookeville; one sister, Charlene Smith of Ohio; five grandchildren: Nikki Rose (Jeff) Begley, Jason (Melinda) Lewis, Amber(Knute) Griffin, Chris (Tia) Lewis, and Ashley Vinson, and 13 great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers Mrs. Rose's family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
