Ms. Terry Gail Ligon passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, in Baxter, TN, where she was also born on October 18, 1958. The daughter of the late Ronnie Howard Ligon and Eva Anne Jones Ligon, Terry's zest for life and her adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A proud alumna of Putnam County Senior High, Terry graduated in the class of 1976, thereafter attending Tennessee Tech University. She began her career at Walmart, where she dedicated 36 years of service, working her way up to a supervisory role. Terry's work ethic and ability to connect with people were unmistakable, and she was not only respected by her colleagues but also cherished as a friend.
Terry's life was one of spirited joy and boundless adventure. Whether navigating the roads in her Jeep, feeling the freedom on her Harley Davidson motorcycle, or reveling in the tranquility of boating, the outdoors was her sanctuary. Her love for the open air was matched only by her love for her family. Terry was the beloved mother of a son, Clay Brandon Sherrell, and a daughter, Dusty Starr Sherrell Clark, both of Baxter. She was also the doting grandmother to Alexis Lee Clark, Kaylee Ann Clark, and Chloe Starr Clark, whose lives she brightened with her presence and unconditional love.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Terry is survived by her sister, Sherry Ann Ligon (Marciano) McClellan, of Cookeville. Each family gathering was made more special by her warmth and the laughter she brought into the room. Terry's absence will be profoundly felt by her family, including her cherished dog, Darcy, who was a constant, loving companion.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Terry would describe her as the epitome of an adventurous and spirited soul. She never shied away from a challenge, and her enthusiasm for life was contagious. Terry's legacy is one of strength, love, and the courage to embrace each day with a smile.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Terry lived her life to the fullest, surrounded by the people she loved, in the place she called home. Her memories will be treasured, her stories retold, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her loved ones.
