Terry Lee Farmer

Terry Farmer, 67, of Chattanooga passed away April 4, 2014. Terry was born October 13, 1946, in Chattanooga. Mr. Farmer grew up in Chattanooga graduating from Central High School in 1964. Following high school Terry attended Tennessee Tech University, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration. He is a veteran of the United States Military, having served in the US Army from 1969 to 1972. He continued his civil service as a Criminal Investigator with the Internal Revenue Service from 1972 until 1974, when he began his career with the United States Secret Service, retiring in 1999. Terry was proud of his opportunity to serve his country in various capacities.He was preceded in death by his parents, T J and Ruby Farmer; his brother, Thomas Farmer; and his niece, Karen Wann. He is also preceded in death by his in-laws, Clay and Lena Farris of Cookeville.Terry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda (Farris), and their children, Matt (Kim) Farmer and Virginia Farmer; five grandchildren, Justin, Logan, Cole, Monica, and Dustin; his brother, Gary Farmer; his nephews, Tommy (Jill), Marty, and Gary Alan Farmer; niece, Cathy (Jerry) Davis ; and numerous cousins. Visitation will be 2-8 Monday, April 7, 2014. Services will be held April 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel with Gary Massey officiating. Interment will follow in the Cunningham Cemetery in Cookeville 11:00 am Wednesday, April 9 with full military honors.The family will receive friends at Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville Tuesday evening from 4-8.Arrangements under the direction of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-East Chapel, East Ridge, TN.Honorary Contributionsto the Veterans Honor Guard may be sent to Tom Serwan-Adj, 370S.
