Terry Burgess

October 12, 1956 — September 19, 2024

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Don Terry Burgess, known affectionately as Terry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his residence in Cookeville, TN, on September 19, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on October 12, 1956, in the same town he would eventually call his forever home, Terry's life was a testament to his loving, kind, and thoughtful nature.

Terry was a man of deep faith and commitment, which was reflected in his educational pursuits. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Freed-Hardeman University and went on to obtain a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His passion for guiding others on their spiritual journeys led him to serve as a longtime minister with Churches of Christ. His ministry took him to various congregations in Jamestown, TN, Baxter, TN, Long Beach, MS, and Phoenix, AZ, where he touched countless lives with his compassionate counseling and heartfelt sermons.

After many years of dedicated service, Terry retired, leaving behind a legacy of love and support that would continue to resonate with those he ministered to. His influence extended beyond the pulpit, as he was a pillar in his community, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.

Terry's life was rich with the love of his family. He is survived by his sons, John Burgess and Don Burgess; his brothers, Tim Burgess and Freddie Burgess; and his cherished grandchild, Harper Burgess. Each of them will carry forward the values and lessons that Terry instilled in them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie V. Burgess and Helen Thomas Burgess, who laid the foundation for his faith and character.

In keeping with Terry's wishes, there will be no services.

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com
