Teddy Vaden

MONTEREY-Funeral services for Mr.Teddy "Ted" M.Vaden, age 81 of Monterey, will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Harris will officiate. Interment with military honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Whittaker Cemetery.

His family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Vaden died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 13, 1941, in Monterey to the late Wirt Hathen "Hack" Vaden and Epsie Pearl Ledbetter Vaden. He was a graduate of Monterey High School class of 1959. Following graduation he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy.

Ted displayed a strong work ethic throughout his life, most notably as owner of Music City Sewer & Drain for many years. He also worked at Mcdonald Douglas and as a bus driver, and owned the Cup & Saucer Restaurant for over 10 years. Equal to his enjoyment of work was his enjoyment of life-he loved having a good time for himself and for the benefit of others He collected various antiques throughout his life including MG cars. He also served as a Monterey town alderman for 10 years.

He loved and provided for his family. His grandchildren brought him great joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William McGill Vaden, Jake Vaden, Vernon "Ditty" Vaden and Murrel "Buddy" Clayton Vaden; and by sister, Lucy England Dunn.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann Reeder Vaden; sons, Scott (Penny) Vaden, Jeremy (April) Vaden and Jason (Dr. Amanda) Vaden; daughter, Tammy (Randy) Payne; grandchildren, Sydney and Jared Vaden, Kinsley Vaden, Damian and Rosa Payne and Cheyenne and Tamaha Vaden and by brothers, Tommy (Serena) Vaden and Larry (Fran) Vaden.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
