Susie Matheney

Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Marie Matheney, age 77 of Monterey, will be held Tuesday May 6 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Horner Funeral home with Rev. Tony Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Matheney died Friday afternoon May 2, 2014 in Standing Stone Care and Rehab Center in Monterey. She was born October 10, 1936 in Monterey to the late Amp and Ida Arizona Swallows Williams. She was a member of Monterey First Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Matheney; three sisters, Hazel Holloway, Elizabeth Williams, and Ruth Williams; and five brothers, Charles, Sam, George, Roy, and Jr. Williams. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tim Morrison of Columbia, MS; son, Alan Looper of Monterey; three grandchildren, Susie (Jarrod) Patterson of Nashville, Mary Catherine Morrison and Preston Morrison both of Columbia MS; brother and sister-in-law, James Talmage and Kazuke Williams; and sister-n-law, Marilyn Williams all of Monterey. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Matheney's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
