Sue Chaffin

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty "Sue" Chaffin, 56 of Algood, will be held Monday December 21st at 1p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Interment will follow in Paran Cemetery. Mrs. Chaffin's family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Chaffin died Friday morning December 18, 2015 in Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was born September 27, 1959 in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Albert Lee and Ethel Dishman Haney. She moved to Jackson County, TN at age 13 and was a 1977 graduate of Jackson Co. High School. She was a long-time employee of the former Thaxton & Bartlett Surveying where she worked as an office manager. She later worked at and retired from Suntrust Bank where she had many coworker friends. She will be fondly remembered for her cute, sassy and fun-loving nature. She wanted those in her life to be happy and had many good times planning and experiencing many trips to the beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Haney. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jerry Chaffin (whom she married May 28, 1988 in Cookeville); daughters, Tabitha Whited and husband Terry and Tabithia Chaffin and fiancée Gary Gregory; sister, Carol Dickerson and husband Delmas, all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Caitlin Venters-Maddle and Maximus Gregory; nieces and nephews, Linda Charnetzky, George Marshall, Beverly Marshall, Marty Marshall, Angel Buckner and Jim Haney; and by numerous great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.
