Funeral services for Mr. Edward "Spott" Ligon, 84 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday June 22 at 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Dow Allen will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Ligon's family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Ligon died Friday afternoon June 20, 2014 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 16, 1930 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Buck and Pearl Huff Ligon. Mr. Ligon worked as a Mechanical Engineer with Keene Corporation. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lila Eloise Ligon (who died October 15, 2013). Survivors include sister in law Jean King of Cookeville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark King, Jacob Rushing, Bob Cumby, Bill Cumby, Don Huff, Harly Key, Harold England and Mark Ligon will serve as pallbearers.
