Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Jean Morris, age 68 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9 at Stevens Street Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Arms officiating. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Morris died suddenly Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1947 in Monterey, TN to the late Albert Paul (Buck) and Helen O'Hair McCrary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gary Paul McCrary and brother-in-law Terry Parker. Ms. Morris was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church where she served in the worship ministry. She retired as an administrative judge/hearing officer with the Tennessee Highway Patrol with over 29 years of service. She also was a former LPN at Cookeville General Hospital. She is survived by her husband Steve Morris (whom she married August 13, 1996 in Cookeville); daughter Misti Copley of Cookeville; two step-sons, Steven and Greg Morris of Colonial Beach, VA; step-daughter, Tina Rogers and her husband Ken of King George, VA; four grandchildren, Taylor Adkins, Cameron Sherrell, Joey Anderson, and Emily Rogers; great-grandchildren, Lily McClain and Taryn Adkins; sister, Gina Parker of Cookeville; two nieces Shalena Mathews and her husband Eric, and Tasia Parker. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions can be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, 205 Serenity Place, Smithville, TN 37166.
