Graveside services for Sharon (Sherry) Roberta Taggart, 76, of White County, Tennessee, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, and Monroe, New York, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, at Taggart-Haller Cemetery, 370 Taggart Haller Lane, Sparta, White County, Tennessee.
Sherry passed away at 2:14 p.m., Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at Charter Senior Living in Cookeville, TN.
She was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Crown Heights Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Michael Taggart and Isabel Dempsey-Taggart.
Sherry, along with her sisters, Betty and Mickey, grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and later moved to Monroe, N.Y. in Orange County, N.Y.
Sherry was retired from Highland Telephone Company of Monroe (later known as Frontier Communications), as a repair service dispatcher, with more than 30 years of service.
She was a devoted and respectful daughter and a loving sister. Sherry enjoyed traveling and visited many countries with her late sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Taggart. They traveled to several European countries and went on several cruises to Alaska and other countries. Her other sister, Michele (Mickey) J. Taggart-Haller also accompanied her sisters on trips over the years to Ireland, Scotland, England and Newfoundland, Canada, (where their mother was from).
Sherry had a wonderful sense of humor and was a most generous person.
For some years, she and her sister, Betty, were members of the White County Senior Citizens and she and Betty, made several trips with them.
Sherry was an amateur artist and painted and made drawings in her spare time. She was an avid animal lover and adopted several cats and dogs over the years. She leaves her little chihuahua, Sugar, in the care of her sister, Mickey Haller, also of White County.
Sherry’s family includes her loving sister, Michele J.T. (Mickey) Taggart-Haller of White County; her loving and devoted nephew, Patrick Michael Haller of White County; her loving niece and husband, Isabel Erin Haller-Gryc and Terry Gryc of Howell, Michigan; her three nieces, Sarah Elizabeth Hulst, Katherine Isabel Hulst and Abigail Erin Hulst, all three of Washington State; a loving cousin, Margaret Thomson of St. John’s, Newfoundland, whom she and he sisters were very close to over the years; two half nieces, Jeanine Cole and Rose Ann Albano, both of New York; a half nephew, Robert Pearn of New York, and her beloved dog, Sugar, of White County.
In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her older sister, Elizabeth Geraldine Taggart, a half brother, Michael Taggart (who died at 11 days old), a half-sister, Julia Taggart-Pearn; and two half nieces, Mary Ellen Pearn-Braun, Julia Mary Pearn.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Charter Senior Living in Cookeville for their very tender and loving care of their beloved sister.
Father Jerry Kopel will officiate at the services.
Pallbearers will Patrick Haller, Mason Young, Eli Taylor and staff of Hooper-Huddleston &Horner Funeral Home.
