BAXTER-Funeral Services for Sharon Mathis Hall, 62 of Sparta and formerly of Baxter, were held Monday, January 25 at 10 AM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Thurman Mathis Family Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday from 2 to 8 PM and after 8 AM Monday. Bro. Herb Leftwich officiated. Miss Hall died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born December 29, 1958 in Madison to Joyce Love Chaffin of Hendersonville and the late Keith (Erma) Chaffin. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by husband Billy Mickell Mathis, son Tobey Franklin Mathis, brother Darren Chaffin and nephew Brent Moore. She was a 1977 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. Sharon was a member of the Church of Christ. She was last employed with Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Food and Nutrition. Sharon was a homemaker and great mom, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, working with computers, playing board games, cards and computer games. She loved spending time with family and friends. Holidays were especially important to her. She helped with other patients at Life Care Center in Sparta. She loved riding through the Smoky Mountains. Survivors in addition to her mother include sons Brandon (Jennifer) Mathis, Todd Mathis all of Baxter, Jonathan Hall of Cookeville, sister Amanda (Tony) Bunce of Antioch, brothers Darrell (Susan) Chaffin of Mt. Juliet, Eric (Jennifer) Chaffin of Lebanon, grandchildren: Valerie, Mickell, Sylvia, Kobey, Silas, Anola and Caden Mathis, Kendrick and Elyssia Rose Hall. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
