COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Schawn Michael Cook, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and uncle, left this life too soon on October 4, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on June 8, 2000, in Livingston, TN, Schawn quickly grew into an amazing, funny, and goofy individual who had a way of brightening the lives of those around him. He was indeed a one-of-a-kind spirit, capable of making people smile while also challenging them to embrace life's quirks.
After graduating from Upperman High School in 2018, Schawn dedicated himself to an admirable work ethic. By day, he drove a delivery truck, ensuring the timely arrival of goods to those in his community. On his days off, he could often be found indulging in his passion for plants and flowers, working at the garden center at Home Depot. The calming beauty of nature served as a much-needed stress relief for him, showcasing his love for life’s vibrant hues.
Schawn was not just defined by his work; his bright personality was infectious. He had eclectic tastes that influenced his love for basketball shoes, a fervor that can only be described as a serious obsession. A Philadelphia sports fan through and through, he brought a playful competitiveness into every game and conversation. In addition to his interests in video games, Schawn cherished the important role of family in his life, especially his special nephew, Baylor, who was a true source of joy for him.
Schawn is deeply mourned by his mother, "Adge" Adrienne Cook; sister, Hailey Jones; brother, Jeremy (Ryley) Cook; his grandparents, Arel and Joyce Cook along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, the Mathis family, the Jones family and all the rest of his "village," the chosen family who helped make him the man he was. Each of them holds memories of Schawn's laughter, his goofy antics, and the love he freely shared. His sudden departure from this world has left a void that cannot be filled, but the love he planted in their hearts will bloom forever.
To celebrate Schawn's life, his family is hosting a basketball game at Cane Creek Recreation Center, 180 CC Camp Rd, Cookeville, TN 38501 on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Come ready to play ball! As friends and family gather to play the sport he loved, they will also honor his spirit and the unforgettable memories he leaves behind. Though Schawn's time with us was cut short, his kindness, humor, and love will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
