Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Evelyn Shelby, 88 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday September 21 at 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Buddy Johnson and Robert Gardenhire officiating. Graveside services and interment will be Monday September 22 at 1 p.m. at Anderson-Bend Cemetery in Hickman County, TN with Bill McDonald officiating. Mrs. Shelby's family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Shelby died Thursday evening September 17, 2014 in Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was born June 12, 1926 in Hickman, County, TN to the late Henry and Ellen McCaleb Anderson. Mrs. Shelby was a homemaker and a member of Jefferson Ave Church of Christ for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry Shelby (who died September 17, 2008); three sisters, Mary Bratton, Mildred Ballou, and Frances Calvin; and two brothers, Richard Anderson and Fred Anderson. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael (Jill) Shelby of Franklin, TN.
