On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Samuel Doyle Key (Sammy), a loving Father, Grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 65 after a courageous fight to cancer. Sammy was born on August 15, 1956 in Cookeville, TN to Sam and Lois Key. Sammy worked in Cookeville, TN for many years before retiring as a Truck Driver. Sammy graduated from Cookeville High School. His daughter Autumnn (Betts) and her husband Chuck (Betts) reside in Chattanooga, TN. Sammy remained in Cookeville with his life partner of 30 years, Patty (Masters) and her 2 daughters, Hillary (Froning) and Ali (Auld). Sammy had a passion for all things Alabama, NASCAR, travel and food. He would often be found at his favorite pizza place, Gondolas, eating a whole pizza himself. He was also an avid music lover, mainly of rock n roll but really loved it all. Sammy never missed a chance to say “Roll Tide.” He was known for his quick wit, extraordinary style, hard work ethic and infectious smile. Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Sam, and his mother, Lois. He is survived by his Daughter, Autumnn (Chuck) Betts and his grandson Chandlyr (Burns), his life partner, Patty (Masters), his 2 step daughters, Hillary (Rich) Froning and Ali(Austin) Auld, his brother, Alan (Key) and his sister, Lisa (Key), along with 5 grandchildren, Lakelyn, Trice, Violet(Froning), Indy, and Akar (Auld) Friend, Andy Hill. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4pm - 6pm, at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville, with a memorial service to follow at 6pm.
