Sam Greenwood

Funeral services for Mr. Sam D. Greenwood, age 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 11am Tuesday, September 20 at Paran Church with Pastor Danny Whitson and Brother Rick Peak officiating. Interment will follow at Paran Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 - 8pm at Dyer Funeral Home and again Tuesday from 9 - 11am at the church. Mr. Greenwood passed away Saturday morning, September 17, 2016 at his home. He was born February 28, 1948 in Cookeville to the late Sam H. and Geraldine Wells Greenwood. Sam graduated from Cookeville High School in 1966. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from TTU in 1971. Following graduation, he and his father operated Eagle Furniture Corporation in Cookeville. Sam continued as owner and CEO of Eagle until his death. He was an active member of Paran Church having served the church in various capacities (Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Board, Sunday School and Youth teacher, choir and more) for many years. He also was a member of the Cookeville Camp of Gideon International. Sam had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help those in need. He was an avid golfer; playing with his buddies at Southern Hills as often as possible. Sam was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy McCaleb Greenwood (they married December 14, 1969 at Paran Church); son and daughter-in-law, Sam G. and Regina Haney Greenwood of Baxter; daughter and son-in-law, Angelia (Angie) and David Stamps of Cookeville; and five grandchildren; Amber Greenwood of Hilham, Sam Jared and Samantha Greenwood of Baxter, Jacob and Austin Stamps of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Darlene Greenwood. Larry McCaleb, Howard Wells, Chris McCaleb, Jeff Dunn, Wayne Upchurch and Brett Miller will serve as pallbearers.
