Funeral services for Mr. Samuel (Sam) Sullivan Apple, 69 of Baxter, will be at 11 am Tuesday, September 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Harris Cemetery. Mr. Apple's family will receive friends Monday from 5 – 8 pm and again Tuesday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Apple died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at his home. He was born February 17, 1945 in Jackson County, TN to Leonard Apple of Mt. Juliet and the late Anna Lee (Redman) Apple. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Jerry, and Larry Apple; and sister Anna Ruth Apple. Mr. Apple was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired from Teledyn Portland Forge in Portland, IN with over 35 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In addition his father, he is survived by two sons, Randy Apple of Hartford City, IN, and Andrew Apple of Montpelier, IN; daughter, Angela Coffman of Bluffton, IN; step-brother, Rick Burchett of Cookeville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Josephine and Rex McClain of Hartford City, IN, Patricia Ann Williams of Algood, TN, Debbie and Kenneth Jones of Nashville, TN; ten grandchildren, Kyann Coffman, Kenya Coffman, Katey Apple, Jesse Coffman Jr., Riley Apple, Brandon Apple, Cameron Apple, Jaden Apple, Aiden Martin, and Bryce Martin; aunt, Louise Moss of Chattanooga, and nephew Paul Ford of Tennessee. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
