Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Allison, age 83 of Cookeville will be held Wednesday June 28 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Kocher officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Allison's family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She died Suddenly Sunday morning June 25, 2017 at her home from injuries received in a house fire. She was born August 16, 1933 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Jack and Jessie Carr Stewart. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from the former Teledyne-Stillman Company in Cookeville as an Executive Secretary with over 22 years of service. While living with her family in Detroit, MI, Mrs. Allison was recognized by the City of Detroit and the Detroit Police Department and received an award for her bravery in stopping and securing a purse snatcher until police arrived. She loved quilting, coloring, writing, and was a great story-teller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Willard Allison; and her son-in-law, Ron Taylor. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Taylor of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law, Stewart and Gemma Allison of Mt. Juliet, TN: three grandchildren, Allison (Tommy) Lee, Jessica (Sean) Jackson, and Parker Allison; three great grandchildren, Taylor Lee, Charley Beth Lee and Ivy Jackson; , two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jacky and Cathy Stewart, and Franklin and Judy Stewart all of Cookeville; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Billie Gentry, Delores and John nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart. Joseph, Mary and Melvin Maxwell all of Cookeville and Wanda and Mike Roth of Columbia, TN; and several Pallbearers will be Jake Mackey, Mike Austin, Charles Gentry, Sean Jackson, Tommy Lee, and Michael Damron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mustard Seed Ranch PO Box 3814 Cookeville, TN 38502 Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements (931) 526-6111.
