Ruby Simmons

Private family graveside service and interment for Ruby Simmons, 89 of Cookeville, will be Sunday, November 10 at 1 PM at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Col. Grant Meadows will officiate. Mrs. Simmons died Friday morning, November 8, 2019 at her home. She was born July 31, 1930 in Romulus Township, Wayne County, Michigan to the late Joe and Olive Ruth May Richmond. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Ralph Simmons, sisters Hazel Marie Dyer and husband Wallace, Betty Ford and brother Harold Richmond. She attended McBroom's Chapel Church of Christ in her early years. She moved to Clearwater, Florida in the early 1950's. She was a retired hairstylist with Bill and Hazel's Beauty Shop in Clearwater. Survivors include children: Patsy Carol (Roger) Whitson of Cookeville, Bobby (Susan) Meadows of Soddy Daisy, TN, Steve (Linda) Fortney, Michael Edward (Marilyn) Fortney, sister Helen Scott of Goodlettsville, grandchildren: Terrie Lee Whitson Ragsdale, Sherrie Carol Whitson Gilley, Grant Meadows and Codi Fortney Parker. Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Meadows, Roger Whitson, Michael Fortney, Steve Fortney, Col. Grant Meadows and Brandon Parker.
