Funeral Services for Ruby Jewel Lafever Jones, age 84, of Cookeville, will be Wednesday morning, May 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Lafever Cemetery. Ruby passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at her home and surrounded by her family. Ruby was born June 5, 1928 in Putnam County TN to the late John Lafever and Altha Wright Lafever. She was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and wife. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Cookeville Free Will Baptist Church and the JOY Sunday School Class. Mrs. Jones is survived by her two children; Judy (Sam) Greenwood and Larry (Joy) McCaleb both of Cookeville. She is also survived by two sisters; Christine Loftis and Frances Holman both of Cookeville, one brother; Gene (Joyce) Lafever of Algood and one sister-in-law; Linda Lafever of Cookeville. Ruby leaves seven grandchildren; Kellie (Jason) Trent of North Carolina, Chris (Melissa) McCaleb of Florida, Ashley (Robert) Swann of Cookeville, Sam G. (Gina) Greenwood of Baxter, Angie (David) Stamps of Cookeville, Jimmy (Laura Beth) Holloway of Arizona, and Jessie Holloway of Nashville. She was great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren; Amber, Samantha, and Sam Jared Greenwood, Jacob and Austin Stamps, Noah, Zach, and Caleb Trent, Finn and Mack Swann. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Jones, one sister; Dimple Steward and five brothers; Earl, Lawrence, John Marshall, Louie and Arnold Lafever. Pallbearers will be Chris McCaleb, Jason Trent, Robert Swann, Sam G. Greenwood, David Stamps and Noah Trent. The JOY Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers. Bro. Charles Cook and Jason Trent will be officiating the service.
