Ruby Hunter Byers

Private graveside services for Ruby Hunter Byers, 86, of Cookeville, will be held on Sunday, May 31, at Browns Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Ms. Byers died Thursday, May 28, 2009, in Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Putnam County to the late Virgil and Delia Stacy Hunter. Ms. Byers was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church for many years. She was retired from Acme Boot Company. Her family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Pat Byers and Gary and Nancy Byers, all of Cookeville; two grandsons, Gary Byers Jr. of Murfreesboro and Michael Byers of Oak Ridge; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Byers Lovallo, and a brother, Beecher Cordell Hunter. Rev. Steven Thornton will be conducting the service.
