Roy Quarles

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Elmo Quarles, SR., age 85 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday March 20 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Gillock and Rev. Roger Cooper officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Roy's family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Roy died Sunday afternoon March 19, 2017 in the Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Murfreesboro. He was born September 20, 1931 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Daniel Harvey and Nora Willie Adams Quarles. Roy was a long-time member of Knights Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, and a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from State of Tennessee maintenance department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Matheney Quarles; son Matthew "Matt" Quarles; two sisters, Minnie Lee and Mattie Ann Dillender; and four brothers, Arnold, Jack, Billy, and Sam Quarles. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roy E. and Leah Quarles, JR of Murfreesboro: four daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa and Darryl Underwood of Pleasant View, TN, Judy Quarles of Carbondale, IL, Dianna and Brad Russell of Seymour, TN, Nora and Maurice Farmer of White House, TN, and Charlene Quarles of Cookeville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Derek Underwood, Clay Melton, Logan Quarles, and Austin Russell. Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
