Funeral services for Roy Allen Hurst, 84 of Baxter, will be Thursday, October 5 at 11 a.m. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery in Silver Point. Rev. Tim Sharp will officiate. Mr. Hurst died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Overton County Health & Rehab Center in Livingston, TN. He was born January 29, 1933 in Grayson, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Chestney Johnson Hurst. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife Nelda Ashburn Hurst on October 15, 2013, and a sister Beulah Carr. He was a retired master mechanic and worked in the pipeline industry. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1951 to 1956. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Gregory "Greg" and Angela Hurst of Baxter, grandsons Clinton Hurst and Shannon (Donna) Maynard, great-grandchildren: Myles, Maddux, Isaac and Emily. Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Ayers, Rick Burnette, Adam Vinson, Marty Smallwood, Kyle and Chris Herald. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)858-2134.
