Funeral services for Mr. William Roy Gore, 92 of Algood, will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 15 at the Algood Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Gilpatrick and Bro. Danny Whitson officiating. Interment will follow in the Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 pm and again Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Gore died Thursday morning March 13, 2014 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born August 15, 1921 in Overton County, TN to the late George and Donna Ledbetter Gore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Ruth Gore; two infant sons, Walter and Kenneth Gore; and eleven brothers and sisters. Mr. Gore was a retired master carpenter. His career gave him great pride, and examples of his work span many areas of the community including Saxony Apartment Homes, Bryan Fine Arts Building at Tennessee Tech University, and Cookeville City Hall. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying planting his garden vegetables and keeping an imaculate lawn and shrubs. He will be sadly missed by family and those who knew him best. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Edna Huddleston Gore (whom he married August 29, 1941 in Putnam County); two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Reba Gore, Gerald and Rose Gore; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Cordell Richardson, all of Algood; seven grandchildren, Wayne Gore (wife Kelly), Lynn Gore (wife Jessica), Angie Harville (husband Jimmy), Nikki Morrison (husband Keith), Jerry, Billy and Rhonda Gore; 18 great-grand-children; and special friends, Jimmy and Mary Lee Sliger. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
