Roy Elbert Fox, age 90 of Cookeville, left his earthly home on Sunday November 15, 2020. He was born June 3, 1930 in Jackson County, TN to the late Alton C. Fox and Flora Pharris Fox. The family later moved to the Homestead Community of Cumberland County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Aubrey C. Fox; and sister, Gladys Kidwell. Roy was widely known for his passion in the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry. He bred, raised, and showed Tennessee Walking Horses for many years. Until his health declined, he attended the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville for several decades without missing a single year. He was also on the Board of Directors at the Algood Lions Club, The Upper Cumberland Horseback Riders Club, and Upper Cumberland Walking Horse Association. Roy formerly was the manager at the Tech Grill. He also was formerly employed at Pepsi and J.R. Gaw Produce. Roy is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Dorothy Bullock Fox, whom he married in January of 1978; children, Ed (Betty) Fox of Louisville, KY, Christy Fox of Murfreesboro, Cathy Fox of Rickman, Tim Blalock of Monterey, and Yolanda (Phil) Ramsey of Monterey; brother and sister-in-law, Steve (Brenda) Bullock of Monterey; several grandchildren including his two favorite granddaughters, Dakota (Carter) Watson of Cookeville, and Cierra Ramsey of Nashville; several great-grandchildren including great-granddaughter, Livi Watson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his most precious fur baby and constant companion, Corky. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday November 19 at Crossville City Cemetery. Wayne Nabors will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Blalock, Phil Ramsey, Dakota Watson, Carter Watson, Cierra Ramsey, and Wayne Brown. The family would like to thank the staff of Caris Hospice especially Latishia Carlile for their loving care to keep Roy comfortable in his final days.
