Rosemary Haselton

d. November 26, 2017

Rosemary Miles Haselton passed away in her sleep on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the age of 94. She spent her last days at home surrounded by the family that she loved and leaves behind a legacy of spirit, strength and unimpeachable hospitality. Rosemary was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Mary Jared and Thomas E. Miles and graduated from Hillsboro High School with honors. She also attended Vanderbilt University where she achieved a degree in Spanish and was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Throughout her life Rosemary was known as an excellent hostess, but the larger truth is that she was a dedicated caregiver who began looking after those in her own family starting at a very young age and would continue to care for all those around her for the rest of her life. Whether as a sorority sister, Navy wife or local club leader she found a way to welcome and entertain those around her no matter where she found herself. Rosemary was also an accomplished world traveler who made her way through Europe for the first time in her 20's and would later travel to Guatemala, China, Russia, Thailand and Alaska, among others. She found artistic expression through her extensive needlework and was a patron of the arts and cultural events in Cookeville and was deeply involved in numerous civic organizations, the First Presbyterian Church and Camps Monterey and Country Ladd. Her impact will be felt for generations to come through memories of her welcoming spirit, her quiet gumption and her lifelong belief that ‘family is everything'. She is survived by her husband Cmdr. F.R. Haselton, her children Rick, Tom and Polly, seven grandchildren, and her two sisters Laura and Polly. Visitation will be held Friday, December 1st at 3pm, followed by Services at 5 at Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Rosemary's honor to Heifer International www.heifer.org. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)526-6111.
